Are you climbing the wrong mountain? A Christmas mountain lesson. No. 41
Are you climbing the wrong mountain?
Let’s throw all the goal-setting, motivational self talk hoo haa out the window for a minute and ask a simple, direct question.
Which mountain are you trying to climb and how do you know it’s the right one?
On your way up the mountain, are you in a race to get there, ignoring the people along the way instead of stopping and authentically connecting with them?
On my way up Mount Lofty last weekend I caught myself racing up there, again!, and leaving my hiking buddy behind. My mentor would say to me “where else does this behaviour show up in your life?” A great question for self reflection.
So, as we hit the silly season and wade through the hundreds of emails before we take some time off, make some time to reflect on your year, your goals, your mountains and your decisions.
Ask yourself “what one goal would make the biggest difference in my life next year?”
Write it down and get to work on making it happen.
Wishing you and your family & friends a wonderful end to the year (and decade) and a great start to 2020.
Dan.
